Some prospective caterers who are aspiring to be employed under the Ghana school feeding programme were unhappy about the new directives regarding the application process which was outlined today by the Sissala East Assembly authorities meant to ensure a smooth take off. This was necessitated by agitations among many women and few men who had thronged the DAs premises to purchase the forms that had been advertised earlier.

The caterers told RadfordNews however, they were expecting the forms would be made available for them to purchase but the information given from the Assembly today turned otherwise and it did not meet their expectation. One of the women who spoke to RadfordFM appealed to those that will be picked to increase the allowance of the cooks in the communities from Fifty Ghana Cedis a month to Seventy Ghana Cedis.

They will be required among others the need to write applications for shortlisting after an interview is conducted before qualified applicants can then purchase the forms and process.

In this regard, the Assembly held a brief meeting to explain the modalities to the ‘to be caterers’ at parked Assembly hall this morning in Tumu. In the short meeting, it was declared that the district was given 200 forms and only 64 qualified caterers are needed to fill the available vacancies in the 56 schools in the Sissala East district. In an interview with the Presiding Member after the meeting, Hon. Tohari Luri explained that with the new directives, caterers who have all the requirements and qualifies after the interview will purchase the forms.

He said if that is not done, some may pick the forms and will not be able to meet the requirement. The past few days has seen a rush by potential caterers who wish to be enrolled as caterers massing up at the assembly daily with hope of getting employed. RadfordFM checks indicates over eight hundred applicants have applied earlier before an earlier announcement for sale of forms on Wednesday 9th August, 2017 was changed.
