A laboratory science block comprising chemistry, physic and biology fitted with equipment has been commissioned and handed over to the Tumu Secondary Technical High School in a very impressive programme. At the commissioning ceremony performed by the Tumu Jantina, Banyina Baba Lurimua with the country director of Plan Ghana Madam Fatoumata Alanchair.

Earlier madam Fatoummata had addressed a gathering of students,PTA where she urged students that its her first time of meeting such a big crowd “As I see you today with such a huge crowd, It makes think of tomorrow and not today and for those of us older,we can retire as I am sure we have been backed-up” Madam Fatoumata used her address to talk about the many areas PlanGhana has been working on including health, protecting children, education through partnership and participation with government and other stakeholders.

We like to provide support everywhere to government, the PTA and the education directorate. She therefore urged PTAs to support the school. She requested for accountability and participation from all including teachers who must be committed to their work. “Education cannot be done by one person, all of us need to work together, accountability is key for us, which focuses on level of presentation, attendance to school, constant report and sharing” is important for all so we can collaborate to improve education “Quality she added is not all about numbers but, about the software” where she called for commitment from students to read their books after watching telenovelas. Madam Fatoumata said they will work together for a just world under a new vision aimed at getting 100million girls to LEARN, LEAD, DECIDE and fight. She finally admonished their male counterpart “to help theirs sisters to say no” as its they the boys who approach them. The representative of the DCE Mr. Bayuo Dennis tasked teachers to make the teaching of science interested for students through practical’s as the laboratory is now available and advised the school to take care of the facility. The facility was provided by Plan Japan with a Gh$78,000.00 grant with the PTA providing a counter fund. The cadet of the school earlier put up a military display whilst the female soccer team also appealed for the construction of a soccer pitch to improve upon their form
