The youth unemployment phenomenon that is confronting the nation Ghana can be solved through agriculture the DCE for Sissala West Hon Mohammed Zackaria Bakor says during the 33rd farmer’s day celebration at Sorbelle. He said the agriculture sector already employs 60 percent of our population and fortunately government has come out with policies that are comprehensive economic transformational for industrial growth through agricultural modernization.
The DCE emphasized that this year’s theme for celebration which was on “Farming for Jobs and Investment” is appropriate to solve unemployment among the youth through agriculture and urged the youth to take advantage of the available opportunities. To this end, government continues to provide conducive investment climate required for increased productivity and will in no small way increase the income levels of farmers along the various value chains. Some of the incentives provided by government Hon Mohammed Zackaria mentioned are 50 percent fertilizer and seed subsidy, input credit on planting for food and jobs, one village one dam project, the construction of warehouses across the country and the one district one factory. He also congratulated gallant farmers for their massive contribution to feeding the nation Ghana.
