29 caterers of the school feeding programme on the world food programme in the Sissala East District are crying over delay in the payment of their four month arrears owed. The arrears span September, October, November and December 2016. “We were paid for October and left with three months” the group mentioned in an interview. “At the end of every month, we cook and fill our reports and since December, 2016 we have not been paid. The group added “we are now afraid of the contract with world food Programme. “We want Radford FM to find out from their office in Tamale where the problem is coming from. “we need them to come and pay our money for us, we are owing people, they are disturbing us for their money, we want our money to pay our debt” and also added “WFP should come out and pay our money to us”, these were some remarks of the group who appeared frustrated over the delay added. “The last time we held a meeting, they told us World Food Programme brought money and it’s deposited at GN Bank but we don’t know why they are still keeping our money, we do not understand why and we are pleading with Radford FM to go into the issue and resolve it for us”. When Radford FM contacted the GES contact person in the Sissala East district, she said the regional focal person is asking the caterers to remain calm whilst they resolve the issue with the officials as “contracting issue” is being blamed for the delay. Radford FM will contact World Food Programme in Accra and GN Bank tomorrow for their version as far as the delay of the payment is concerned.
