Twenty three thousand, two hundred and seventy six (23,276.36) worth of electricity is said to have been lost to NEDCO due to theft for three days in Tumu township. A team of NEDCO officials detected this stealing from last Friday to Monday 18th December, 2018. Seven customers all residential users of electricity and one welder from Nyaminjan and Zongo sections of Tumu are said to have be bypassing the electricity. The District Supervises of NEDCO in Tumu Mr. Eric Boadu told Radford FM the stealing which he described as criminal came to light when officials of NEDCO mounted a routine check of their services when questioned about the reasons. “L cannot attribute this to anything, people want to just cheat, the system, we have so far visited Nyaminjan and Zongo sections and letters have been prepared for six persons”. Mr. Eric Boadu blamed the act on users and quack electricians and warned severe punishment awaits those involved “they are using electricians living around to temper with the meter, we have a lot of pictures to show individual stealing electricity”. It’s criminal to do that and if you are caught you could be punished severely. Mr. Eric accused landlords who engage in these electricians to stop or else any tempering with the meters would be detected now or the future. He advised customers to stop the illegal connection as he fears many customers may be involve in this theft if only two sections can steal 23,000.00.
