An uncompromised and a stern warning has been sounded meant to create awareness for farmers who fails to pay the remaining part owed to the Planting for food and jobs investments not to anticipate there will be subsidized fertilizer in the open market this year.
All subsidized fertilizers shall be captured under planting for food and jobs this year and will not be available in shops, hence last year beneficiaries are expected to pay their debt to continue to enjoy the policy the District Chief Executive for Sissala East disclosed in an emergency meeting on recovery of loans from previous beneficiaries.
Although new members shall be registered in the farming season, change of identification cards by farmers who were already captured in 2017 will not be allowed, a sub-committee chairman on Agric in the Sissala East Assembly Mr. Robert Atta Asumani stated. He said this is a measure the government will use to identify defaulting farmers.
Re-emphasizing on the payments of the loans, the District Director of Agric Dr. Daniel Kurinaah stresses that if you owe even One cedi, you will not benefit from the planting for food and jobs policy this year and if you pay, automatically you are part of the program and no new ID cards will be accepted. Assembly members will be resourced to facilitate the recovery process, he mentioned
