Exactly one month when Akate Rahman Halidu escaped lawful custody in Tumu after he was arrested for alleged stealing of a motorbike have been rearrested in Wa where he went into hiding.
The Police in Tumu have told RadfordNews 10-Feb-2018 the suspect was moving from one place to another after he escaped cells on the 10-Jan-2018 but upon a tip off about his whereabouts  the Police  laid ambush at the suspect’s residence in Bamahu in the Wa municipality three days ago to arrest him.
ASP Stephen Abanga who gave the information indicates that “we had to lay ambush around his house because we knew that automatically he will come back home to Wa”.
“Three days ago, we had information that his grandfather died and yesterday Friday was going to be the final ‘Adua’ so we went to the grandfathers house around Bamahu, laid ambush there so around 10pm he came, a team of plain clothe Police and others arrested him” ASP Stephen disclosed.
ASP Abanga added the suspect will be put before court in Tumu on Monday for stealing and after he is dealt with, he would be sent to Wa where a higher court will handle him for escaping lawful custody and resisting arrest  since it may entail a higher sentence the Police said.
His escape brought fears upon residents of Tumu who felt they were insecure especially the whistle blower whose action caused the arrest. However, ASP Stephen Abanga assured them of their security and pleads for the public to be patient  with the Police when things like that happens.Meanwhile, security has been tightened up to prevent another cell break.
