Expired and used medical waste have been disposed-off in a landfill site on the Tumu Pulima road closed to a valley leading to the Tumu dam which can pose health challenge.

The items which includes assorted expired drugs, both liquid and solid, cotton, syringes, others in bottle and carton have all been heaped with the wind scattering them around the environment.

Close to the site is the Masara Ariziki warehouse where maize is stored and Oak international school where children and the general public can come into contact with the medical waste that no one knows what they can do to humans as some unscrupulous persons can gather them and sell back to the public apart from the many animals that grazes around the gravel pit.

RadfordFM called up the Tumu hospital Store keeper who said he saw ZOOMLION early this morning loading some waste medical products from the hospital but promised to follow up and possibly burn them, ,as no attempt was made to burn them either. When RadfordFM contacted Mr Ebenezer Tenkuur of the Environmental Unit of the Sissala East Assembly, he promised to visit the site and investigate who poured the items there so the proper thing can be done”
