CREATE AN AREA COUNCIL FOR THE KASSENA TRADITIONAL AREA IN SISSALA EAST DISTRICT

The Chiefs and people of the Kassena traditional area have appealed to the electoral commission to consider creating an area council in the area as the language barrier and distance was affecting the area to fully meet its development needs as several petition served on the EC  has not seen action.

”I will continue to remind the authorities concerned about the creation of an area council since Bujan area is about 60 kilometers  away from the area rendering it hard to attend meetings on time”.

They also expressed happiness for the opening of a Police post in the area and urged the continuous patrols of the area to keep the security.

The theme for the celebration was “Afforestation for Wealth and Energy”. The Banu Kuoro thanked the government for the planting of food and jobs policy but appealed for the development needs in electricity, water and roads to be given attention.

They want electricity to be extended to: Kunfu, Wuru, Nitalu, Tanvielli, and Kunsolu

On potable water they called on government to provide water to Wuru, Banu, Pina,Kunsola   and wish government continues its development agenda in the area

Bad roads linking the communities they said have denied the festival from being rotational  as planned and forced to keep it permanently at Banu and will require that their road infrastructure in the communities listed are attended to by government :Kunchokor -Wuru,Tanla -kunsola,Tanla- kwapung,Pina -NItalu,Pina Tanviali,Pina Tanviali,Pina Dolibizon-,Kwapun kunsola,Banu Sunborun,Pina Dolunbizon.These abandoned  roads for years  will facilitate economic activities, the Chiefs said.

This was the 10th edition of the Nemoro Fakuri festival of the Kassana people of the Sissala East district which took place in Banu paramountcy where the Chiefs congratulated all the Kassena and gives thanks to God for giving them a successful season.The occasion was attended by other chiefs,dignitaries  District chief Executive and the Member of parliament.
