Mr. Francis Indamani, the Director of Agriculture in Sissala West District has elucidated that, animal production is one of the key sectors farmers should be looking at, for their own good and prosperity. According to him, `agriculture is like a human being with two legs`, therefore, without the other leg running becomes tedious, so, to progress in agriculture one needs to be in both crop and animal production. This was disclosed to RadfordNews following the sensitization of people on animal production in Gwollu.
Mr. Indamani added that, “animal production has three main challenges that`s feeding, housing and health” He established. But, they have brought some specialists to train the people on all these problems. Therefore, their targeted people for this laudable program are the grave one`s who are into it already but have no cognizance to promote their business, however, upon touring through most of the communities in the district, they have gotten the serious ones who are going to be trained, so that they can go back to their areas and share this acquaintance to foster animal production in the Sissala West District.
Mr. Francis Indamani, sum up by expressing that, “this is the right time to start this program to make sure that, farmers have the adequate faculties to handle their animals successfully more especially in the coming raining season, which comes with a lot of animal diseases, and advised farmers not to depend absolutely on crop production because, it is seasonal while, animal rearing is all year round, which also ensures food and income security.
