Tumu College of Education branch of TESCON “Tertiary Students Confederacy” of the New Patriotic Party on Saturday held its 2018 annual general meeting to awaken and strengthen its members for party activities ahead of 2020 elections and beyond.
It was held under the theme “Re-awakening TESCON for party activities” The meeting was attended by party executives from the Upper West Region, the Sissala East municipality and the Sissala West District including Branch members from Wa JAHAN and Tumu Midwifery Training College. Speaking on the theme, the Guest Speaker Mr. Benin Suleman an NPP Deputy Upper West Regional Secretary aspirant inspired that TESCON members of the College should realize they are the foundation and intellectual think-tank of NPP and must be proud to associate themselves with the party’s records.
MR Benin encouraged that as intellectual think-tank of the New Patriotic Party, it should embrace responsibilities and therefore must not limit the activities of TESCON to their institutions alone but must also draw the attention of leadership of the party right from the President to the last person to find solutions to the challenges of their constituencies. Mr. Benin urged the TESCON to scale up their scope to create awareness of their existence, take up leadership positions and prove beyond doubt to the opposition parties by presenting the good records of the NPP to sell to them that there is an alternative for them which is the NPP.
He further urged that they should develop positive attitude in their academic learning to become the role models society will look up to so as to be able to recruit people into the party at all levels. Meanwhile Benin Sulemana also emphasized with caution that leaders in the party must not make promises they can’t fulfill but however should support TESCON.
The Deputy NPP Upper West Youth Organizer Dodoo Sadat advised the members to take pride in the NPP and tell the world that is waiting for them to say NPP is the best and has brought life changing policies to people in the history of Ghana. All the party executives pledged their support to TESCON as they entreat the members to be strong. The Chairman for the occasion Mr. Suara Bukari Tahiru in his closing remarks bemoans the gap of female representation in the executive realm of TESCON as well as at the constituency level and entreats that TESCON should be the turning point to change the trend.
