BANU COMMUNITY STRUGGLING TO GET WATER

Water scarcity appears to have hit Banu in the Sissala East Municipality. The two functional boreholes can hardly bring out water as the water table of the boreholes are said to have dropped. Checks by RadfordFM news indicates most women goes to the stream to fetch water for bathing and other domestic uses whilst the water for drinking is bought from the next community of Bassisan, three kilometer away.
The Assembly Member for the area Hon. Sumaila Batiadon has told RadfordFM on telephone that the situation is serious as it has now become a struggle to get access to water, he attributes the problem to the difficult in pumping for a long time to get just a bucket of water. “Kufuors yellow gallon he attributes save times cost one Ghana cedis as their neighbors charge them for fetching.
He has therefore appealed to the MP to come to their aid with his earlier promise of mechanizing a borehole for them. The MCE who visited them yesterday according assembly member has also taken note of the situation. A teacher in the community told RadfordFM
