Sissala East Municipal Assembly is yet to determine as to whether or not to solicit funds for work on abandoned Jubilee market cited in Tumu town in the Municipality to commence. The project which started two years before the 2008 general election was abandoned when the NPP lost in the election and since then the contractor left cite without return.
The land where the project is cited faces encroachment some residents complained in an earlier news report Radford FM carried whiles a forest grows out of the market. On a MFWA facilitated governance program on Radford FM Tuesday to get the Assembly respond, the MCE Hon. Karim Nanyua indicates that the Assembly is waiting for approval from the Assembly members on the 16th May 2018 after they had already conducted a studies as to what will be the progress on the market.
It is the people who will determine whether to convert the project for a different purpose or might need completion to serve its original purpose before I can go to tell the president about the people’s intension. On the abandoned Digilafuro Daily market, the MCE confirmed he received a letter from the people through the Assembly member of the area Hon. Bagon Luri but cannot take any decision until he meets the community to agree on a convertion plan indicated in the latter. Digilafuro community requested for the facility to be turned to a health facility as indicated in the latter however, the Assembly man has scheduled a meeting for me to meet the people to get their views first before any consideration Karim Nanyua noted.
