HARD WORKING NURSES OF UPPER WEST REGION HONOURED IN TUMU

At the course of Regional Nurses week celebration in the Upper West Region held by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Some hard working personnel and those with distinctive practice in their field of work over the years have been awarded.
The week celebration was held in Tumu in the Sissala East Municipal on the theme “Nurses and Midwives: Promoting Health As A Human right”. 44 personnel were awarded with some taking home certificates and citations, laptops and fridge. Mr. Samuel Naa Yendor emerged the overall Regional Best Nurse in Upper West Region. He works at Lugu health facility in the Wa East District and he took home a citation and a brand new Dell laptop. The chair person of the association Madam Victoria Dahoro Dangori in an address congratulated the Nurses and expressed that health promotion remain a fundamental focus of nursing practice and research as nurses and Midwives are the fulcrum to achieving this. The profession she noted is a call of service to humanity, rendering hope to everyone and bridging the gap between the sick and well as well as other groups without paying attention to material things.
Despite the numerous efforts nurses are making, they sacrifice to walk through tight rope of bracing the challenges and of unsafe working environment, lack of motivation which is sometimes influenced by the absence of critical equipment among others Madam Victoria Dahoro bemoans.

The Member of Parliament for Sissala East constituency Hon. Ridwan Abass Dauda applauded the hard working nurses and encouraged them to sacrifice to attend to patients and pay less attention to mobile phones which some abuse.

He further entreated them to once in a while upgrade themselves in their career and assured to provide support with resources for improved health care delivery in Sissala East.
