After series of floods occurred in The Sissala East Municipality from Monday to Tuesday, the Bugubelle Irrigation Dam is reported to have burst out and The huge tsunami of water washed off parts of the Jejeng and Sentie road. The road is seriously damage and is not accessible at The moment the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Karim Nanyua told RADFORD FM whiles he led a team to inspect affected areas where The disaster occurred on Wednesday morning. He said two buckets full of water cannot be drawn from the Bugubelle irrigation dam anymore because everything is gone down to nearby water ways and therefore cautioned road users not use the stretch. He added that at this moment nobody should speed whiles using any road in the municipality. The team also visited welembelle to inspect similar event that killed a child during Monday’s floods and almost burst out the welembelle community dam due to a narrow spillway which could not allow water out of the dam. The disaster in welembelle caused the collapse of many residential buildings and has rendered many including women and children homeless. A woman, husband and their six children told RADFORD NEWS they slept under a mango tree till Tuesday morning when their neighbours accommodated the family. NADMO is still collecting data of affected persons in welembelle after they went to assess the situation on 4th September, 2018. The Municipal NADMO Director Mr. Issahaku Issah has expressed that the level of disaster is beyond them and urged the the regional office to come to their aid. Meanwhile, the MCE has assured that work will soon commence on the welembelle Dam to make Nubulo road accessible.
