After a long break from operations due to breakdown of vehicle used to collect waste in Tumu town, Zoom lion is now back collecting waste from homes and communal containers placed around corners of the the township of the municipality.
Around August this year Radford FM reported that some communal containers in Tumu especially the ones in Nyaminjan and other places were left with piles of waste closer to homes uncollected causing fears among residents but they have been changed now since they started operations again.
However,. the Manager of urban waste Mr Isaac Bakuoru is worrying about abuse of the communal containers that serves the sections of Tumu for the purpose of waste disposal.
He said cleaning around containers the workers of Zoomlion have now observed how the containers have become place of convenience for open defecation in some of the areas.
He said some parents as well leave waste for children to carry who are unable to pour them inside the containers but rather filter surroundings of the container which sometimes comes with hot ash that causes fire. Mr Isaac has expressed that it is unacceptable for people to use surroundings of the zoom lion containers for open defecation.
Meanwhile he apologizes for what happened in the past when zoom lion could not empty waste bins in homes as well as the covenant containers in Tumu town because of the breakdown of their vehicle. It is not our expectations for such a thing to repeat once the vehicle is back, he expressed
