The Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of the Sissala East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Karim Nanyua has told Radford FM that his outfit will work assiduously to help twenty-two-year-old Memunatu Bawa who is currently suffering from a 14-year-old face tumor.
In a short but special meeting requested by the MCE at his office after he heard of Memunatu’s story on RadfordFM Masie Breakfast Show Thursday morning, he said the municipal assembly will help fund at least some cost of the surgery from the funds earmarked for persons with disability. He sympathized with the lady and assured her of his office support during an interaction in his office by the nurse and management of RadfordFM.
The Social Welfare Department of the Municipality has asked Memunatu who was in the company of Madam Umiatu, a nurse at the Mwanduanu CHPS Facility to go for another assessment of her condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital since the initial date for her surgery has elapsed. This was deemed necessary after the department spoke with officials of the hospital. The department fears the cost will exceed the earlier amount of Ghc5000 since the condition might have worsened owing to her inability to carry the surgery far back July last year.
The reassessments of her condition officials from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital say will take up to two days to ascertain its current status before they can reschedule a different date for her fourth surgery. The Social Welfare Department through a letter sent to them by Radford FM has agreed to release an amount of Ghc1000 to enable her go for the reassessment at the hospital by next week.
