Ten thousand books for five library projects in the Sissala East Municipality have arrived in Tumu pending handing over to beneficiary communities. These are provided by the 2016 People’s National Convention PNC parliamentary candidate Mr. Kingsley Kanton.
The books comprise adult fiction, P1 to 4 leisure books, Mathematics and Science books and English books as well as others and would be distributed to beneficiary communities where the library projects are cited Mr. Kingsley disclosed to Radford News.
The communities include Kong, Bugubelle, Nabulo, Nabugubelle and Mwanduanu all in the Sissala East Municipality.
Mr. Kingsley in an interview stated that for the pass years, learning outcomes in schools in the Sissala East municipality has declined as performance keeps showing poor results which is due to lack of books in schools and inability of some parents to buy books for their wards.
This therefore made him to extend appeal to friends and partners across the world that came to support the library projects with the 10,000 books.
Going forward, he disclosed that plans are advanced to partner the Ghana Education Service to organize spelling bee competitions and maths and science quizzes for children. This would encourage children to keep learning he noted.
