The Municipal Chief executive for the Sissala East Municipal Hon. Karim Nanyua has given an account of the current development activities going in the municipality during a town hall meeting held in Tumu.
His chronicle is in fulfilment of Citizen action for an accountable governance project, which has been championed for citizens of Sissala East by ASUDEV and Star Ghana with the aim of holding duty bearers to account for their stewardship and respond to development concerns.
The concerns are supposed to be considered in decision making so as to bring inclusive and accountable governance as the governance of the Republic of Ghana provides through the local government act (Act 936).
Hon. Karim disclosed that three classroom block each have been constructed in Kowie, Kassana and Challu. Kanton Senior High school got six classroom block whiles Tumu Senior High school benefits 12 classroom block story building and the a residence hall for girls aside.
The Assembly is also supplied to basic schools without furniture 1200 dual desks, aside rehabilitation of some buildings destroyed by storm the MCE said. He, however, lamented the poor performance at 2018 BECE which he attributes to teacher absenteeism and the other educational challenges the municipality is confronted with.
He mentioned the other similar development projects undertaken in health as in the construction of CHPS compounds in some communities and that of Agriculture where governments Agriculture policies of one village one dam and planting for food and jobs are being implemented. The MCE bemoans low interest in cashew and cotton farming by farmers as a challenge for the Agric sector grow in Sissala east.
