The DCE for Sissala West district has said the Assembly is working to get the remaining six communities that are not Open Defecation Free to attain the status to “enable the district to be hooked to the Results Based Financing, RBF arrangement introduced by UNICEF. He claims that the inability of the Assembly to be part of the RBF is putting pressure on the overstretched finances of the assembly.
The DCE said the issue of open defecation borders on attitudinal change, and has therefore called for a “concerted effort from all stakeholders to educate the people to change their attitude to achieve ODF status. He also called on Assembly members to join hands to sensitize the people on the importance of sanitation.
On electricity, the DCE said in line with the objective of ensuring the extension of electricity to all deprived areas, Gbele, Paana, Kunni, Sangbaka and Bagbino would soon be connected to the national GRID
